August 24, 2010 | by Metropolitan | Art Routes & Places, Madrid

After having lived in Montreal for a 4 years, I think Avenue Mont-Royal has to be one of Montreal’s most underrated streets. Known well to locals, it has a very happening vibe due to the artistic bent of the neighborhood. Not to mention, there are two shops where you can get your fix of Art [...]

Everything ready for The Primavera Sound at Barcelona.
May 28, 2010 | by Metropolitan | Art Routes & Places, barcelona
Starting signal for a new edition of San Miguel Primavera Sound, which this year promises to be very special. The organisation of the event expects that all records will be broken be it in terms of volume of attendance or number of concerts (this year almost 200).
The parallel programme of San Miguel Primavera Sound called “Primavera in the city” has already started. Since last Friday 21st, Barcelona has been flooded with music with concerts in the underground and in some of the concert venues of the city centre. The overpowering show of The Nu Niles in the Universitat station stands out and the consecration, on Monday 24th in the Apolo, of Maika Makovski as one of the national bands to keep an eye out for in the future. As well as the concerts of emerging bands like Me And The Bees, Internet 2 and Furguson.
This Thursday 27th the main part of the programme takes off, in the Parc del Fòrum. Together with big names in the recent history of music like Pixies, Pavement, Pet Shop Boys, Wilco and Orbital, a huge legion of new bands of different classes and contrasting qualities will invade the seven stages on the festival site. Among them American bands like Dum Dum Girls, Dr. Dog, Nana Grizol, Sleigh Bells and Matt & Kim, British bands such as Fuck Buttons, Wild Beasts, Apse and The Wave Pictures and long awaited come backs like that of Superchunk and Sunny Day Real Estate.
